in a few days the 2008 presidential election will conclude. one man will be the victor the other the looser. as the election looms closer there is much talk and support of barack obama becoming our next president. there is great excitement about this for many reasons. we have a highly intelligent man with a chance of becoming president. our country has been in a slump for many years and now there is a ray of hope that there is a chance of improvement in the quality of living in our country since we are hitting all time lows in america. obama is charasmatic, inteligent, thoughful, and charming. all great qualities to posess. barriers have been broken down in this current election. a man of color has gotten the nomination from the democratic party, and women have also been put in the hat for nominations too. so we have established that a man of color can run for office and so can women. so you must think how far have we come as a country? with in my parents generation they have witnessed segregation and the abolition of it. and to think that at one point in our country memebers of elected office saw it fit to have a segregated society. now in the year 2008 we have a man of color become a presidential nominee. to think we must have come this far in the span of less than 60 years. but then why is there talk in the year 2008 of the possible chance that barack faces as a new president the chance of being assasinated. so in actuality we haven't come that far. people may like to think that we have progressed as a nation, however why among so many different groups of people they are sharing the same thought and question of a possible assasination. so a man with great ideas and color today in the year 2008 still faces the chance of assasination because of his thoughts and skin color. very scary.
