TURN ON, TUNE IN, DROP OUT.

sEPTEMBER 21st we flew to paris with a connecting flight the next morning, we were faced with the decision, crash in the airport or pull an all nighter in the city, by the pictures you can figure out our decision, after a short train ride, and connor suggesting we "turn here" we stumbled upon this, a four foot concrete structure in the shape of a perfect left....

aFTER an hour or so of shralpin we moved on to the pub and meet up with an engligh speaking
group and meet our official / unofficial tour gide kat from texas who is now homless in paris, took us around, first stop was club OZ where our jaws were on the ground the whole time by the sights our eyes were forced to endure, let me put it this way, the men in paris dance to attract their mate thus developing this overly flamboyant and straight up questionable style that made me wonder if we were in a straight club...see this link for an accurate portrayal of the club... http://youtube.com/watch?v=agHzWCDsZxA ... i couldnt possibly find a better video...after that educational experience, we moved on to what we were told was a speakeasy/late night spot, then to a jazz club to mellow out then headed back to the airport for one very hungover flight and one very hungover drive down to Biarrittz...

hotel d'anjou which was stituated a convienient 200 meters from the beach where we scored some 4 foot beachie peaks...
this was our room sitchie where if you notice the beds were close enough for me to kick when connor would decide to snore and sound like a bloody fog horn mate...

being on a budget and france being kinda pricey, when it came to catchin a buzz we'd get a few beers, shot gun them, hold our breath and spin around in circles till we would get dizzy and convince ourselves we were buzzin...

This section of the blog is going to be titled N.B.D. a.k.a. No Big Deal,

The quicksilver pro was in town creating for an absolute circus in and out of the water also meaning that 44 of the best surfers on planet earth were show casing their skills...I think this is cory lopez droppin into one at la nord, by the way la nord is the ninth wonder of the world because if you can see it is about 8 foot on the face breaking very close to shore technicly making it shore break at high tide, but yet breaking in deep enough water, and produces a lip that throws out far enough to fit a small car sideways in there, and when you wipe out and are done cart-wheeling underwater you are placed convieniently on the sand to collect your board and your breath...
Nice line up shot, right? wrong! you see that shadow on the face, well thats a photographer that just shot a photo of Andy Irons and yess if you were wondering he is behind the curtain fallin, and yes he made it out, No Big Deal huh?

a left a la nord seconds before this dude is about to get spit out!!!

This was shot from the dunes and the beaches in france are substancially large so for this wave to look this big from this far a wave means only one thing, it was fuckin huge...N.B.D.Another shot from the dunes only this one has a dude on the face, try and zome in to see it..One of the rare nights we went out and hit the scene, and with the contest in town only ment one thing SAUSAGE FEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tHE surf van/ surf bum is alive and well in europe it seems like half the population lives out of a van...on a lackluster day of surf the Quick pro held an expression session with the top 44 which turned into a 3 ring circus of dudes gettin whipped in and towed in every which way...

This was our compound for our time in france, a girl by the name of katell's parents were out of town for the weekend so she rented us their house...Backyard...When we pulled up to the house the first thing we saw were these signs, making us have second thoughts about staying there...

While checking the surf Occy and bruce were suiting up for a surf, No Big Deal...

Occy wrappin one off the top, No Big Deal...Chris ward was there too, No Big Deal...So was Cory, No Big Deal...O and Andy too...

So the surf faded and that only ment one thing time to hit the road, those mountains in the background are massive and took forever to climb...

A quick stop in Bilbao, which is like the Newark of Spain...

From there we made it to Porto, Portugal after many hours on the road...Our first surf in Portugal was in a town called Agcuadoura which was an hour north or Porto and wasn't much of a town besides fields and small roads, this was their soccer club which was also in the parking lot where we surfed, as far as the surf goes, it was just the two of us in 3-4 foot surf, not a breath of wind, making us surf till we couldnt move our arms...This was some rock that was mixed into the bottom..

A shot of the city of Porto, the city seemed to have a perfect mix of old and new cultureWe headed down south to Peniche which was a pininsula off the Portugal coast offering up a usuall favorable wind and wave too...The north coast of Peniche was rugged and ferrel offering up a pleasent escape from the general population and gave way to some empty waves...Fishing is a popular activity for the local people and they have a deep conection with the ocean, they are also some of the most hospitable people you will ever meet and are happy to have you in their country....

We meet an amazing human-being by the name of Pieter from Belgium who absolutly rulled and ended up rollin around with us for a week or so, he also was a huge fan of hip-hop and had a bunch of music on him so for fun we would sit in our rental car, rock beers, and blast biggie smalls...introducing pieter to what we call in the states "parkin' lot pimpin"

One day in the parking lot of Supertubos Pieter was like "man, why do you hide your key there?" (in the shock), showing me that he keeps his key on him around his neck and proceded to call him a dork for doing so, after our surf we are changing and he was like " my wallet and camera are missing" thinking that he forgot to lock his car which was ironic given the fact that we were just talking about it, ends up car crime is rampant at Supertubos, and the thiefs go around and do things like this which happens to be Pieters car, puncturing a hole through the car door poppin the lock open and helping themselves to what ever they like, all in broad daylight, ya gotta love it, huh?
So these are picts from Coxos, a wave that is refered to as the best right hand point break in europe, equipted with a lava rock bottom, plenty of sea urchins, a hollow tube and long walls..Post top turn...The peak and 50 of your closest Portugees friends...12'o clock rock...
The sun is so hot in Portugal and just beats down on you all day, from time to time some shade is necessary...O, and if you were wondering, this is a lady holding a young girl in the air so she could pee on the side of a bus stop, yep. This is the point where I give a free plug and big up the Atlantis Residencial in Peniche where we stayed cuz this places is off da hook!!! 25 bones a night, killer brunch in the morning, and SUPER RIGHT BOCK beers for .80 cents...nuff said to the haters!!!
After a drive back to France from Portugal and a quick 7 hour layover in an airport in Germany, for a flight to Italy, we ended up in Milan...Then to the wonderful city of Amsterdam, where we calculated wrong and stayed entierly way too long (insert your own guess why, and your prolly right), ....One of the cities fine CAN-I-BUSS shops, which adds to the cities wonderful arroma, much better then NYC's which smells like piss and peanuts...This is one of the many flop houses in the city which were over taken by ferrel dudes and claim the building as their own....This is a shot outside of our juvenile detention center, O excuse me I mean hostel, The Heart of Amsterdam, yup, you guessed it right in the middle of the Red Light District...Not to get all poetic on ya, but a still picture of this place wouldnt do it justice, the shit that goes on here is mind blowing from the prostitution, men "shopping" for women, West Indians tryin to sell you coke 10 in the morning on your way to breakfeast, to stores that sell piff and mushies, was too much to handle, truley a one of a kind place that only could deserve picture quality like this....
...O yeah end note, we flew out of Paris on the day Air France workers decided to go on strike, which grounded all flights and lead to all flights being cancelled, telling us the next time an Air France plane would be in the air would be 4 days from then, YIKES, so we split up and straight up hustled the whole afternoon tryin to find any info possible, well around 6 p.m. word spread that a flight would be leaving to NY and that the strike was only among domestic crew members, which didnt mean us then, after hustling a spot on the plane, which ended up being business class we were on the runway drinkin' champagne and treated to a 4 course meal....with only one thing to say...BALLIN'!!!!!!!
